May 2007:

The scorecard for the NH House Republican Alliance just came out. They rate Legislators on their votes in accordance with the NH Constitution and the Republican Platform. I came out with a 98% rating, an unabashed Reagan Conservative!!!

And was in the Governor's Office today trying to persuade to veto on some bad legislation.

March 2007:

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you [Don H.] on this....how time flies. My e-mail has been awesome recently because of some high profile emotional bills in the New Hampshire House, like civil unions, parental notification before minor girls can get abortions, etc. The other morning I had 64 new e-mails - ugh! And, I try to answer all those that are from my district, but I do ignore the spam sent to all reps.

Yes the early 80's were a tough time for Mom and Dad and (sister) Yvonne is still alive and kicking, living in upstate NY where she brought up 6 children.

Elwood Nichols' music store [ in Angola ] was around for a while but not sure when it closed.

I, too, was upset when TSU started taking a bunch of government money. I guess Hillsdale College across the border in Michigan still survives without it and has become quite the showplace for teaching free market economics. More power to them.

[ Answering questions posed by Don H. and Marilynn W. M. ]

Rev. John Humphreys (of Angola Congregational Church) was no relationship. My grandfather, Johnston Humphries, was a NYC cop. What else is an Irish immigrant (legal - ha) going to do? It was, however, Rev. Humphreys that married my mother and dad.

The ‘chally’ in the e-mail is actually a combination of Charlie & Sally.

I haven't been back to Angola for about 5 or 6 years. I brought my Mother out here in 2000, after her sister passed away in Dec of '99. Then Mother passed away in Feb of 2002 at the ripe old age of 103. My son, Patrick, always described her as a tough old bird. I guess he was right.

However, at the last few visits to Angola, not much was familiar. Our farm had a lot of land sold off and homes built on it. It seems like a lot of the farm land is following that path - too bad.

Sally and I have 4 children, 3 girls, one son...11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. It keeps Grandmother busy, keeping track of all.

I'll continue to monitor the website and will love to watch it grow.

[Note from Don H. --- now you know the origin of Charlie's middle name]
